The Perry-Lower Tyrone Class of 57’ Celebrates the Big Five O

The once in a lifetime 50th Class Reunion

The committee of Mary Ann Phillips, Andrea Karpel, Jackie Angelo, Connie Protos, Dolores Ludwick, Virginia Kovatch, Al DeBarnardi, Ralph Cottom, LaVerne Colbert, Hazel Conn and myself, have chosen the Weekend for the Class Reunion. The committee will have more meetings, but we do have some things in place. In addition, Connie is making arrangements to provide a plaque to everyone commemorating the occasion. This will be a wonderful keepsake.

And It only happens one time in your life: You are invited to The Fiftieth Class Reunion for the Class of 57’ Perry-Lower Tyrone. The Celebration will be at Sampey Park in Perryopolis June 30th 2007.

We begin the Weekend on Friday night June 29th about 7:00 pm at the Sons of Italy. We had a lot of fun at the Son’s with dances and good times. Pizza will be served and it will get us started with the camaraderie. We can use this time to do some preliminary “catching up”.

The next day we can begin about 10:00am with our time at Sampey Park. There are a number of activities at the park including Volley Ball and pitching horseshoes. But we do plan to get a Softball game going. I know it’s been 40 years or so since you have played, but you will be surprised how it comes back.

Lunch including drinks, will be served around the Noon hour and we will rest from the vigorous activity.

After we have digested the lunch and have relaxed a bit, it will be time for a Bus Ride around the area. This will take place at 2:30 pm.

The committee thought it would be a good idea to ride a bus around town and in other areas that classmates have lived. In addition to getting an historic tour of Perryopolis, we will visit Star Junction, Whitsett, Wick Haven, Layton, Banning and maybe even get into Lower Tyrone, Hulltown and Dawson. We’ll map out a route later.
It will be interesting to see where you were living when you went to school. Even to see if your home place is still standing.

If you lived in Perry, chances are you didn’t ever ride a bus. You walked to school every day. So this will be an extra treat for you. We should be able to have some beverages on the bus to quench your thirst. Maybe even throw in some chips and pretzels.

We should arrive back at Sampey Park close to 5:00 pm and have another meal of hotdogs and hambergers and maybe more dessert.

There are a few places you can stay in the area. Linden Hall (724.529.7543), Holiday Inn Belle Vernon at 51 and I-70 (724.929.4600), Perry ‘O’ Inn and Suites (724.736.2772) and Holiday Inn Express in Mt. Pleasant (724.547.2095). Of course there are hotels in Uniontown too.
If you want to get together following the reunion Saturday, the party will be at Linden Hall.
